May-July Northern Michigan Search Interest

May-July Google search interest for Northern Michigan places should show an increase to annual peak values. This forecasted peak for July would be a historical high. However, the May-July average search interest forecast is lower than the previous two years’ values. Looking at forecasted temperatures, May and June forecasts are mixed. The average minimum temperature and average of average temperatures are relatively high while the average of max temperatures is relatively low. However, for July, all temperature forecasts are relatively high. This partially explains why July is showing such a high value while the three month average is relatively low.

I have added a section tracking differences in Google trends data from monthly pull to pull. I am now saving monthly pulls and before the end of the year I am planning improvements to reduce this variation. I also added a section looking at the accuracy of monthly temperature forecasts from both weather.gov and accuweather. Since I’ve started this project, weather.gov has generally forecasted higher than normal temperatures so I want to ensure that both forecast sources are generally providing me unbiased forecasts.
