My Google search interest forecast for Northern Michigan places during the next three months continues to show higher levels for the Upper Peninsula and slightly lower forecasts for the Lower Peninsula. During this period, we would expect some of the lowest search interest of the year with this impact reduced in the Upper Peninsula due to snow sports.
For the last several months, there has been a lot of variation in my forecasts from month to month; however, the basic story of higher Upper Peninsula levels compared to history has held constant in both forecasts and realized actuals. The same can be said for slightly lower values for the Lower Peninsula compared to history. Next year, I plan improvements to my model and forecasts that will likely reduce month to month variance in forecasts.
In the end, I can’t guarantee provision of these forecasts at the current complexity because it seems that every month Google makes it more difficult to scrape their website using pytrends. But even if I’m unable to base my forecasts on 200+ places like I do currently, I can still report on several key or representative locations.
