This is the fifth installment of my outdoor recreation search interest project. This project investigates Google search interest from Michigan for 10 different outdoor recreation activities. The data is daily starting in 2021. This project was motivated by my Northern Michigan search interest projects as a companion project and a way to investigate underlying drivers of Northern Michigan search interest. The secondary goals of this project are to employ daily data instead of monthly data, more advanced methods than my Northern Michigan search interest project, and ease data pulling procedures compared to my Northern Michigan search interest project.
This is a reboot from last year. Therefore, this installment is an update to Installment 1. I update the data from April 2024 to March 2025. I will most likely not update Installments 2-4. Instead, I will apply up to three modeling methodologies with intent of providing two week ahead forecasts of each search term.
